REVIEW
We were craving for some chinese dim sum. Did some research online and found that there was yum cha buffet at dragon boat palace on lonsdale street. Since it was the weekend, we had to pay $22 per pax and a minimum of 2 persons have to dine at any one time. >.<
First question that dawned on me when i walked into the restaurant was why do most chinese restaurants in australia have such tacky decor: golden dragons, red paint, chandeliers… these seem too cheesy?

We ordered a large variety of our favourite dishes from the waitresses who were pushing their respective carts around. The quality of the food and the service we received were rather disappointing but with the price that we paid, i guess we couldn’t be too picky? For the hakau (my beloved yum cha dish), i think the frozen ones that i bought from the asian grocery actually tasted much better!
To this end, how i miss the dim sum i had back in Singapore at Crystal Jade! T_T

The only good and ok yumcha in the city would be westlake or sharkfin (more variation) i would say. The suburb yumcha is much much more better than what you can experience within the CBD
Thanks for the tip~
I have just gone to Rainbow not long ago, it was better than Dragon. As for suburbs, would you mind recommending some? >.<
HI Lydia: try golden pebble restaurant wantirna or crown palace vermont south (goes there regularly). Crown palace is always packed on weekends, if you’re going as a couple, might be able to get a seating without booking. Golden pebble is relatively new, a lot of customers are flocking to that place somehow….
Hi Elaine,
I will take note of them! Thank you very much. =]
