Hotel Windsor has been hailed as the ‘IT’ place for afternoon teas and it has been serving up such finery since 1883! Amazing huh. So, when there was a Scoopon promotion recently, I grasped the chance and got myself a coupon to indulge in some long awaited delicacy.Upon arrival, we were shown to our seats at the corner swiftly and given a glass of sparkling with a strawberry inside! Even though the place felt kind of old, HW managed to up keep some of the more classic and intricate details well.
Afternoon tea started with a tiny tuna quiche on the table, followed by a three-tiered silverware of goodies: first layer of their legendary scones; second: pastries and cakes; third: variety of sandwiches.
Scones were the must have at HW’s afternoon tea, you can have them plain as vanilla or raisin; have them with cream and berry preserves provided. The scones were hot when they were laid on the table, I could not wait and ‘prance’ onto them immediately. I prefer the vanilla ones!
Next, we had an assortment of pastries and cakes. They were bite size and a delight as they were not overly sweet and brilliantly tasty.
Lastly, we had a variety of sandwiches: Smoked salmon with creamy avocado & dill; Egg, mayonnaise & snow pea tendrils; Virginia ham & Dijon mustard; Chicken, apple & mayonnaise; Traditional cucumber with sour cream & chives. I love the chicken and apple which provided an interesting texture difference.
Overall, a classy and lovely experience!
