J has been craving for some ramen in this miserable weather and we sort of exhausted the more popular options. This is when I remember that there is a ramen place that is two doors away from Ajisen Ramen in the city! So, we embarked on the ‘journey’ to Ito Japanese Noodle Cafe. It does not have any fancy exterior nor intricate decor on the inside. But the waitresses were friendly and chirpy. The moment you set foot into Ito, you are greeted with a wide smile and shown to the seats immediately. J ordered the Jumbo ramen with two different toppings: karage and char siew in miso base. It was massive and had an alluring scent to it. The chicken was not too fried and the char siew were the right thickness. Most of all, it was not salty or MSG filled like any other ramen we had tried so far!
I had the simple char siew ramen in miso base (you are able to choose between shoyu or miso soup bases). The char siew were a bit too fatty for my liking but you need the fatty bits to brew and make the soup more delicious. I would have preferred the egg yolk to be half boiled and not fully cooked, which made it really dry. 😦 The ramen were chewy and I love those pickles!
After lunch at Ito, J and I headed down to Passionflower and had our fix of ice cream. We ordered three different flavours among the two of us: Strawberry, Red Bean and of course, my favourite Durian! You can see the real ingredients for both strawberry and red bean. They were not too sweet and were smooth and silky as the way I like them to be!
