Craving for some affordable Japanese goodies? Then head over to Kimurakan! It might not have an appealing shop front or extensive menu. However, with the quality and the price you pay, it is definitely worth a walk to Chinatown. It is situated right near the section connecting to Swanston street. To be honest, I have visited K several times prior to this entry (sorry, I know I should have shared this pretty little secret with my readers earlier… =x) Another note, they have done a mini revamp to the restaurant recently, giving it a fresh and clean feel.J and I were doing our usual rounds and realised it has been a while since we visited K. So we made our way there and were shown to a table next to the staircase. We started our meal with Yakitori: tender chicken on a stick with sweet teriyaki sauce drizzled on top. K managed to keep the chicken moist and not overly grilled or burnt. The sauce added a perfect kick to the already wonderful dish. In my opinion, they were one of the better ones I have tasted so far!

As for mains, J was craving for some Katsu Curry. The pork was battered nicely and not overcooked. I got myself my favourite Ebi Fry Curry: the prawns were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The curry was the right thickness and not overpowering. I love their fried tofu which was a delight with the sweet tangy sauce provided. The presentation of the bento box was aesthetically pleasing to the eyes of the diner too!

Kimurakan is indeed one of the rare places that check all the boxes for a quick and cheap eat out in the city. No worries about not getting a seat as they do takeaways too!
